After joining in January last year, Guimaraes has been in impressive form this season too for Newcastle and has become a fan favourite at St. James Park.

The midfielder has made 26 appearances this season in all competitions and has scored four goals, along with providing three assists.

The Brazilian has a contract until the summer of 2026 with Newcastle but the Magpies are claimed to be close to agreeing a new deal with him.

However, they may have to battle off Chelsea to keep him as the Blues asked about Guimaraes in January.

When Chelsea enquired about the Brazilian, they were quickly rebuffed by Newcastle and the conversation ended.

Chelsea may still try for the midfielder again in the summer and offer up a bid, by which time he may be on a better contract at Newcastle.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are also long-term admirers of Guimaraes and could be another potential suitor for him in the summer.
