Amad joined the Black Cats from Manchester United this season on loan and made a notable impact in his side’s impressive run in the Championship as the Black Cats secured a playoff spot after having finished sixth in the table.
The Ivory Coast international played in 37 matches for the Stadium of Light outfit this season and bagged 13 goals and three assists.
He created a distinctive moment in his side’s last encounter against Preston North End when he scored a screamer from outside the box, through which the Black Cats broke the stalemate.
Sunderland eventually won the match by three goals to nil.
Mowbray admits Sunderland are fortunate Amad is in form in a crucial part of the season, but also feels the way he has bedded into the team is amazing.
“We’ve been fortunate that Amad has hit an amazing [run of form]”, Mowbray was quoted as saying by The Northern Echo.
“We haven’t taught him anything, but how he has incorporated himself into the group and what we do on the pitch has been amazing.
“He scored a goal out of nothing [at Preston] and it’s not the first time.”
The Black Cats will face Luton Town in a Championship playoff semi-final tie on Saturday and will be hoping to get a fillip in their bid to return to the English top flight after a six-year hiatus.
