Sitting second in the championship split in the league table, the Gers are set to finish the season trophyless, and thoughts are already turning to the summer.

The Glasgow outfit are also expected to witness a busy transfer window in the summer following their boss Michael Beale’s revelation that Rangers are about to revamp their squad ahead of next season’s campaign.

Wright, who joined the Scottish giants in 2021 and was part of Rangers’ starting eleven in the 2022 Europa League final, has delivered lacklustre performances this season; the Scot has struggled to nail down a place in the side and seen his minutes on the pitch limited.

Ferguson insists that Wright should leave Ibrox at the end of the season amid the Gers’ prospective squad overhaul in the summer, as he believes it will be tough for the winger to find his place in Rangers’ starting eleven if Beale strengthens his squad on the flanks.

The Rangers legend is clear that he is a fan of what Wright brings but thinks that the winger needs to exit Ibrox for the sake of his career.

Scott Wright was another starter in Seville and although I like what he brings, he’s struggled to get games and it’s unlikely to get any easier for him when Beale brings in his new recruits”, Ferguson wrote in his Daily Record column.

It’s probably best for both parties if Wright moves on to somewhere he’ll play 30 games a season.

Rangers are actively in the market for players to replenish their squad as they brace for the likely departures of some key players at the end of the season.
