Spurs believed that they had their man in Slot and were preparing to make a formal offer to take him away from Feyenoord.
Talks between his agent and Feyenoord on Wednesday suggested that Spurs were closing in on the appointment of a new manager.
However, Slot provided the ultimate twist to the tale on Thursday morning when he dismissed all rumours and insisted that he is more than happy to continue with the Dutch champions.
The Dutchman is now set to be rewarded with a new contract by Feyenoord and Vega is not surprised that he rejected moving to Tottenham this summer.
He insisted that he is not sure why Slot was even considering listening to the offer from the north London club given their current state.
Vega took to Twitter and wrote: “Why would Arne Slot even considering to come to the Spurs?”
It has been close to two months since Tottenham decided to sack Antonio Conte and there is still no clarity on who will be their next permanent manager.
