McKirdy, 26, joined Hibs from Swindon Town on transfer deadline day last year after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.
The English forward has struggled to live up to expectations at the Edinburgh outfit and remained off-target after making 23 appearances in all competitions for Lee Johnson’s side.
And McManus insisted that Hibernian should jettison the misfiring forward this season amid the claims that Hibs might engage in truncating their bloated squad ahead of next season’s campaign.
Pointing out his own stint at Easter Road, he emphasised that even he could not go through the goal drought that McKirdy experienced and expressed his thoughts on the forward’s expected departure.
“The first out the door should be Harry McKirdy”, McManus wrote in his Daily Record column.
“How can you go 23 games without scoring a goal?
“Not even a drought which McManus suffered in his career!
“Zero assists into the bargain, how is that possible for a professional footballer who was signed to be a creative spark?
“He’s on a right few quid, Hibs went to the last minute of the transfer window to get him and forked out money for him.
“All I see is a guy with pink hair running about a pitch.
“The way he looks doesn’t inspire confidence with the mohican and socks at his ankles.
“If I’d gone 23 games without a goal I’d have a skinhead, black boots on and my socks pulled up.”
Hibernian have the possibility of tasting European football next season in the event that Celtic beat Inverness in the Scottish Cup final.
And they are eyeing bolstering their squad this summer in order to improve upon their displays this term.
