The Magpies finished fourth in the Premier League with 71 points, securing a place in next season’s Champions League.
Guimaraes was a key man in Newcastle’s heroics and his performances and adaptation to the Premier League have not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool now keen.
The Brazilian midfielder, who joined the Magpies from French club Lyon in January 2022, is under contract with the club until 2026.
Newcastle are aware that Guimaraes is a wanted man and are keen to lock him down on fresh terms.
It has been claimed that talks are under way, with both parties hoping for an agreement to be reached quickly.
The Magpies are interested in extending the contracts of a number of players, notably 33-year old winger Matt Ritchie, in addition to the Brazilian midfielder.
Guimaraes started 32 Premier League games for Newcastle this season and was instrumental in the club qualifying for the Champions League next season.
