The Scottish giants are keen to land a new number 1 this summer and have focused in on Butland as the man they want.

He is departing Crystal Palace following the end of his contract, along with the completion of a loan spell at Manchester United.

Now Butland has undergone a medical with Rangers ahead of a move north of the border.

He has already agreed terms on a contract with the Gers and will link up with the club as a free agent.

Gers boss Michael Beale will be delighted to have landed the shot-stopper as another piece of his summer rebuild.

And Butland will be looking to hit the ground running at Rangers.

The Gers ended the season without silverware and Beale will be desperate to change that in the new campaign, with what is expected to be a much-changed squad at his disposal.
