Jassim’s Nine Two Foundation tabled a fifth bid this week in his desperation to push forward with the process of buying the Red Devils.

The final bid is no more than £6bn and Jassim’s team delivered an ultimatum to the Glazer family to give them an answer by Friday.

There were suggestions that they will stop engaging with the process if the Glazers do not accept their bid by the deadline.

However, it has been claimed that is not likely to be the scenario today as the hours continue to tick on Friday.

Jassim and his Nine Two Foundation will not be walking away from the process and will not end their interest in buying Manchester United.

There are suggestions that the Qatari banker tried to force the issue as he feared losing out on the club to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group.

The British billionaire has offered to buy 51 per cent of the Glazers’ shares with one or more of the Glazer siblings staying on as minority shareholders for a limited period of time.

INEOS are in talks about the structure of the deal with the Glazers but an agreement is still not imminent.
