The Hammers are continuing to negotiate the finer details of Declan Rice’s proposed move to Arsenal but the transfer is almost certain to happen.

David Moyes wants to bring in two midfielders to replace the Hammers captain and the club have been exploring deals for several players.

Alvarez, 25, was one of their top midfield targets but West Ham backed out of the race after it became clear that the Ajax star wanted to join Dortmund.

But there are claims that a move to Dortmund might not happen due to issues between the two clubs.

The Bundesliga giants are said to have ended their interest in Alvarez after refusing to match Ajax’s asking price.

West Ham are claimed to be ready to consider reviving their interest in the Mexican if it becomes clear that he will not be joining Dortmund.

The Hammers are likely to want to know whether the player wants to move to the London Stadium before rekindling their interest in him.

Denis Zakaria, Joao Palhinha, Amadou Onana and James Ward-Prowse are some of the other midfield options West Ham are scanning this summer.
