Selles recently took the reins at the Royals and is looking to build a squad to bounce right back up to the Championship following relegation into League One.

The former Southampton boss is keen to start making his mark by adding to the squad, but cannot at present.

Reading have managed to remove two EFL sanctions in the last day, but one sanction, which means the transfer embargo is still in place, is still there.

The sanction is in relation to unpaid tax owed to HMRC.

Selles has lined up a number of players to come in, but until the embargo is lifted, cannot complete the deals.

Reading have also been charged with a number of other breaches of the rules due to allegedly not paying the players their wages on time.

The Royals start life in League One by playing host to Peterborough United, before they then travel to Championship outfit Millwall for a first round EFL Cup tie.
