Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan and has no plans to return to Chelsea in the ongoing transfer window.
With Inter set to sell Andre Onana to Manchester United for a deal worth more than €50m, the club are expected to have the funds to do a deal to sign the Belgian.
The forward is also ready to lend a helping hand to Inter to make sure they manage to sign him.
According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Lukaku is ready to reduce his wage demands again to complete a move to Inter.
The forward took a pay cut and agreed to a contract worth €8.5m per year to join the Nerazzurri last summer.
He is ready to slash off another €1m a year from his pay packet to let Inter try and sign him on a permanent deal.
But for the moment, the two clubs are some way away from working out a deal amongst themselves.
While Chelsea want €45m from his departure, Inter are only prepared to pay €35m divided into a €5m loan fee and a €30m obligation to buy.
