Bass joined Sunderland from League One outfit Portsmouth last summer on a three-year deal.

But the 25-year-old goalkeeper failed to make any appearances in the Championship last season.

Bass has drawn interest from League Two club AFC Wimbledon this summer and they want to take the player on loan.

Anthony Patterson is Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray’s first-choice goalkeeper and the Black Cats are happy to let Bass leave on loan.

It has been suggested that Wimbledon have agreed a loan deal with Sunderland and Bass is set to undergo a medical today.

The former Portsmouth star has two more years left on his Sunderland contract and will ply his trade under Johnnie Jackson in the upcoming season.

Bass will be determined to put in a good performance for Wimbledon before he returns to the Stadium of Light next summer.
