After missing a chunk of last season with an injury, Keita parted ways with Liverpool, joining German outfit Werder Bremen on a free transfer.
The Guinea international had been one of Klopp’s regular options at the heart of midfield after joining in 2018 but various injury issues restricted his appearances to just 129 in five years.
Now having finally bid adieu to Premier League football, Keita revealed what his Liverpool manager told him before letting him leave, a big confidence booster.
“He said I’m a player who can help any team without injury”, Keita was quoted as saying by German magazine Kicker.
Keita further took time to insist that he did not sign for Werder Bremen as a star but like someone that has just started playing football.
“I didn’t come as a star, but like someone who has just started playing football.”
Liverpool splashed out a huge £52m to sign Keita from RB Leipzig and the midfielder disappointed during his time on Merseyside.
