After initially joining Celtic on loan from Yokohama F. Marinos in January 2023, Iwata has now made a permanent move to the club by signing a long-term deal.
Iwata made eight appearances for the Bhoys in the Scottish Premiership last season, where he assisted one goal.
Having joined Celtic in the middle of the previous season, Iwata expressed satisfaction with how he settled into the team but he also acknowledged his personal desire to contribute more.
The 24-year-old midfielder is eagerly anticipating the upcoming season and feels the need to raise his performance levels for the challenges ahead in the new season.
“I feel that I need to lift up my level for the new season, so I’m looking forward to it but also, I want to prepare very well”, Iwata told Celtic’s official site.
“I joined the team in the middle of the season. I felt that I settled well into the team but, personally, I wanted to help the team more.
“This season we will try to win the same titles.
“We’re aiming for more success and, within that, I want to perform well too.”
As Celtic prepare to face Yokohama F. Marinos in their pre-season campaign, Iwata will be aiming to make a significant impact under the guidance of new manager Brendan Rodgers.
