Szoboszlai left Leipzig to join the Merseyside giants in the ongoing transfer window after his £60m release clause was triggered.
The midfielder joined Liverpool as part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans to rebuild his side’s midfield following last season’s disappointing fifth-place finish.
Leipzig are facing more pressure to sell Gvardiol this summer due to interest from Premier League champions Manchester City, but Eberl stressed that they are not even close to meeting the German’s clubs demands.
He insisted that the sale of Szoboszlai means that Leipzig do not need to sell anyone for financial reasons this summer.
The Leipzig sporting director stressed that the club would prefer to hold on to Gvardiol for next season.
He told Sky Deutschland: “Manchester City would like to have him but currently, we are still far apart.
“The transfer of Szoboszlai has secured us financially.
“We don’t need the money.
“We would prefer Josko to stay.”
Szoboszlai will be looking to make a mark early in his career at Liverpool and help the Reds to challenge for trophies again next season.
