Hojlund has emerged as the top striker target for Manchester United this summer after they deemed a move for Harry Kane improbable earlier in the window.

The Dane has already agreed personal terms on a contract with the Red Devils and is set to increase his wages by seven to eight times if he moves to Old Trafford ahead of the new season.

Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race for him and have been in talks with the forward’s entourage over a potential move to the French capital.

But according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, Manchester United continue to have the edge over any other club in the race to sign Hojlund.

The forward has prioritised moving to Old Trafford over other options and is hopeful of completing the switch.

Manchester United have continued to remain in talks with Atalanta via intermediaries and more conversations with take place over the weekend.

The expectation is that the Red Devils will table their first formal bid for the striker next week.

Atalanta want a fee of around €60m and another €8m to €10m in add-ons for the 20-year-old striker.

Gian Piero Gasperini, the Atalanta coach, has requested the club finalise the forward’s sale by the end of this month.
