Liverpool have agreed a British record fee of £111m with Brighton for the signature of the Ecuador midfielder this summer.

They hijacked Chelsea’s summer-long pursuit of the player but are still wary of a new bid from the Blues.

Liverpool are pushing to complete the signing today but the midfielder and his representatives are still in London.

However, it has been claimed that he is due to leave for Merseyside shortly for talks with Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the agreement with Brighton but was coy on agreeing personal terms with Caicedo.

He is set to undergo a medical at Liverpool this afternoon ahead of signing a long-term contract with the club.

Chelsea have not given up on their hope of signing the midfielder but are yet to table an improved bid.

Liverpool are trying to guard against any last-minute hiccups and secure Caicedo’s signature in the coming hours.
