Lukaku’s future has been under the scanner all summer but he continues to remain on Chelsea’s wage bill.

He initially wanted to return to Inter but just when the Nerazzurri got close to reaching a deal with Chelsea for his signature, the forward stalled on the potential transfer.

A furious Inter backed out of wanting to sign him despite some late attempts by the player to repair his relationship with the club.

A move to Juventus has also stalled and according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Spurs are now in talks with Chelsea to sign Lukaku.

It has been claimed that the forward would have to agree to a significant pay cut from his current wages of €10.8m per year.

Tottenham are unlikely to find it hard to match Chelsea’s €45m asking price if they press forward to get a deal done.
