Cresswell is in the final year of his contract at West Ham and he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
Wolves are interested in signing him but failed with a bid to sign him earlier in the ongoing transfer window.
The 33-year-old is keen on the move and Wolves have continued to maintain their interest in the player.
But it has been claimed that the pursuit has stalled because Wolves do not have the money to get the deal done.
The Molineux outfit are battling financial fair play issues, which played a part in Julen Lopetegui’s exit from the club just days before the start of the season.
Wolves do not have the funds at the moment to sign Cresswell at this stage of the summer transfer window.
The club need to move on a couple of players and bring in funds in order to sign their targets in the last couple of weeks of the transfer window.
