The Hammers are expected to be busy in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window and they have targeted multiple players to bring in.
Montpellier frontman Wahi has emerged as a top target for David Moyes in recent days after he decided that a move to the London Stadium is what he wants.
Despite the Irons’ interest in Wahi, they have not made a formal offer for him though and Lens are trying to hijack the deal, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
Montpellier’s asking price of between €30m and €35m has not scared Lens off and they are keen to sign Wahi.
West Ham have the advantage of Wahi being keen to move to them, however they may need to make a formal bid soon.
Wahi caught the eye of multiple European clubs as he made 25 goal contributions in 33 league matches last season.
The right-footed Under-21 French international is capable of playing as a striker and he can also slot in as a right winger.
Now it remains to be seen if the Hammers will act on and send an official bid for Wahi in the upcoming days.
