Sanchez is into the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and several clubs have been looking to sign him.

Rennes went in with a bid of €9m for the defender and Tottenham turned it down.

And a move will not happen, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, as Tottenham are demanding €15m for Sanchez.

Rennes consider such a fee level to be excessive taking into account Sanchez’s contractual situation in north London.

Only a late turnaround on the part of Tottenham could put the move back on track.

Whether Sanchez will have any other exit options on the table before the transfer window closes remains to be seen.

He has drawn interest from Turkey and their transfer window will remain open beyond the closure of the English window this evening.
