Garner, who is a Manchester United academy product, joined Everton last summer and made only 16 league appearances last season.

This season, the midfielder has featured in all seven league games for Everton so far, but Sean Dyche has used him out of position in the majority of the matches.

Ball pointed out that Garner is a player who can make things happen in possession and believes that he can provide Everton with the necessary composure they lack in the midfield area.

The former Toffees star believes that Garner has the ability to take care of the ball in difficult situations and stressed that Everton need the 22-year-old’s ability in their midfield.

“He’s the in-form player and a midfielder who likes to try and find a pass going forward and never hides”, Ball wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

“He’s got an all-round game and likes to press and force an error from an opponent.

“When he receives the ball, you can see an intelligent footballer who can make things happen.

“He’s not rushed, he’s assured and can put a bit of composure in that midfield.

“Sometimes it can be like a hot potato for us because we give the ball away so easily and so cheaply at times so Garner is the type of midfielder you need.

“The others might try and do something straight away and hit the ball out of play but he’s got the ability to look after it.”

Garner has featured in a total of nine games this season and has contributed one goal and one assist in the process.
