The 21-year-old right-back featured 30 times for Sunderland last season and helped them reach the Championship playoffs.
This season, Hume has been a regular in Tony Mowbray’s defence and has featured in all eleven league games for Sunderland without picking up any cautions in the last ten games.
Gabbiadini pointed out that despite his aggressive style of play, Hume does not give away too many fouls.
The ex-Sunderland star believes that the defender times his tackles excellently and believes that despite finding himself in tricky situations, he always manages quite well.
“He does not give that many fouls away for how aggressive he is”, Gabbiadini said on BBC Radio North East.
“It all seems that his timing of the tackles is excellent.
“Quite often, last ditch, diving in, just trying to claw the ball back when someone has gone past you, he always does quite well with them.”
Hume has been a key part of Mowbray’s defence and has helped Sunderland keep four clean sheets so far this season.
