Maddison picked up an ankle injury in Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night and is facing a spell on the sidelines.

He has already been pulled out of the England squad, which was only announced on Thursday by Gareth Southgate.

The midfielder’s injury is still being assessed and a proper timeline for his return has not been decided yet.

But it has been claimed that worries are growing inside Tottenham that they could be without Maddison for several months.

Tottenham are wary that his ankle injury could be more serious than they previously anticipated.

The midfielder has been a big part of the reason Tottenham have made a great start to the season.

He has three goals and five assists in eleven Premier League appearances but he could now be missing from action for a while.
