After Leeds’ relegation to the Championship, the 27-year-old centre-back triggered a clause in his contract to leave Elland Road in the summer.
He returned to Germany to join Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan and it is suggested that he could make his exit from Leeds permanent at the end of the season.
Koch quickly established himself as a regular in the starting line-up of the German outfit and started ten out of their eleven games.
His performance turned some heads and it was suggested that he was in contention for Germany’s recent two games against Turkey and Austria.
The Leeds loanee suffered a calf injury in training sessions before Eintracht Frankfurt’s Europa Conference League game against HJK Helsinki.
He has not returned to action and according to German daily TZ, there is mystery and secrecy about Koch’s situation.
Depending upon how much tissue is affected and his healing process, Koch may miss the rest of this year for Eintracht Frankfurt.
The club are keeping how serious the injury is firmly under wraps at present.
Koch is determined to get back in the Germany national team and it remains to be seen whether his injury will affect his chances of getting in the Germany team for the next international break in March.
