Former Leeds United star Jon Newsome has conceded that he is worried that the Whites are conceding soft goals this season.
Leeds conceded a late goal to lose 2-1 against Preston North End in the Championship at Deepdale on Boxing Day.
Goalkeeper Illan Meslier was sent off for violent conduct in the 53rd minute and the Whites went a goal down just four minutes later.
Leeds seemed to have wrestled away a point when Pascal Struijk converted a penalty in the 83rd minute, but the home side scored a late winner via Liam Millar.
Daniel Farke’s men have won just one of their last four games and Newsome admitted that their inconsistency is slightly concerning at this stage of the season.
But he conceded that he is more worried by Leeds’ penchant for giving away soft goals.
Asked if Leeds are in the middle of a blip, the former White said on BBC Radio Leeds: “It’s slightly concerning, of course it is.
“I think we were a bit unfortunate at Sunderland, it was an unfortunate goal to concede and it had 0-0 written all over it.
“The Coventry one, it was a bad goal to concede.
“We have to work incredibly hard to score goals against the opposition and it doesn’t seem the opposition have to work incredibly hard to score goals against us.
“That’s not a good forte to have.”
Leeds will look to get back to winning ways when they take on West Brom at the Hawthorns.
