Former Aston Villa star Andy Gray is of the view that Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker should be fined for turning his back on the ball during Manchester United’s second goal on Boxing Day.

On Tuesday night, Aston Villa squandered a two-goal lead at Old Trafford as Manchester United came back from behind to rescue three points against Unai Emery’s side.

John McGinn’s free kick in the 21st minute and Dendoncker’s goal in the 26th minute gave Villa a head start over the Red Devils.

In the 71st minute, Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho scored their second goal due to a mistake by Aston Villa midfielder Dendoncker.

Gray, who was not happy with Dendoncker turning his back on the ball in the build-up to the goal, stated that he would now fine the Belgian midfielder for his mistake.

“I’d fine him”, Gray said on beIN SPORTS.

“I’ve always said that in previous years for anyone who goes and turns their back on a ball.”

Dendoncker has featured 12 times for Aston Villa in the league so far and on Boxing Day against Manchester United, he started his first game in the league this season.
