Leeds United attacker Joel Piroe has revealed that he aims to get to the Premier League with the Whites and prove himself at the top level in England.

Piroe came through the youth set-up at PSV Eindhoven and moved to England in 2021 to join Swansea City.

Leeds got him this summer, spending a fee in excess of £10m to secure his services on a four-year deal.

The 24-year-old is getting used to life at Elland Road and has increasingly been played in a support striker role rather than as a central striker.

The aim for Piroe is to get to the highest level in England with Leeds and prove his mettle there.

“I want to get into the Premier League with Leeds and show myself at that level. I am convinced this is possible”, Piroe told ESPN.nl.

“In the long term, I want to earn a step higher again.

“I have adapted well to a higher level throughout my career so far, so I am confident that I can continue to do so.”

Piroe further took time to stress the fact that he sees his time in the Championship as his training years for the Premier League.

“I see my seasons in the Championship as training years for the Premier League and now I want to experience first-hand why everyone calls this the best league in the world.

“I dream of the Premier League, but I could certainly play in another country.”

Returning to the Eredivisie remains an option for Piroe but his focus for now remains on being in the Premier League.

“The Eredivisie is certainly an option, but at that moment I am fully focused on the Premier League.”

Despite being played out of position, Piroe has proven to be a goalscoring threat for Leeds, scoring nine goals in 21 Championship matches.
