Aidy White has admitted that he would prefer to see Georginio Rutter continue as the number 10 following his impressive showing in Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Birmingham City at Elland Road on Monday.

Rutter was brilliant and created a goal in Leeds’ win over Birmingham City and the performance further burnished his reputation in the Whites team.

The Frenchman played a different role as he played in the number 10 behind Patrick Bamford as Leeds hammered Birmingham City at Elland Road.

White admitted that Rutter was very good in that attacking midfield role and thinks the assist showed that it suits him to play in that position.

He also feels playing as the number 10 gives more freedom to the attacker to be in different areas of the squad and cause multiple problems to opponents.

The former White said on BBC Radio Leeds: “I thought he was terrific today in that 10, I actually prefer him there.

“I think his assist speaks that it suits him as well as his goal tally and with Bamford up there, brings him an opportunity to link up really well.

“He plays with a lot more freedom at 10, he is not restricted, he likes to roam around the pitch, pick up balls in difficult areas for opponents to mark him and he causes a tremendous number of difficulties for them.

“I like him at that 10 and could that potentially free up Bamford as the main striker or [Joel] Piroe?”

It remains to be seen whether Rutter continues at the 10 when Leeds travel to Peterborough United on Sunday.
