Charlton Athletic and Oxford United have failed with a bid for Cheltenham Town striker Will Goodwin, according to journalist Jon Palmer.
Michael Appleton’s Charlton side are sitting 13th in League One and are desperate to show some progress in the latter half of the season.
The club are looking to add more teeth to their attack and signing a striker is one of the priorities for the Addicks this month.
Goodwin, who has scored six times in 16 League One appearances for Cheltenham this season, has emerged as a big target.
But it has been claimed that Cheltenham have knocked back the bid from Charlton for the 21-year-old striker.
Oxford United are also chasing the forward as they look to boost their attack in the promotion battle, but they too have seen their proposal for Goodwin rejected.
For the moment, Cheltenham do not want to lose one of their best players in the middle of the season.
With 18 months left on his contract, the club are also under no financial pressure to sell Goodwin in the ongoing window.
It remains to be seen whether either Charlton or Oxford come back with fresh bids for the striker in the coming days.
