Oxford United are leading the race for Charlton Athletic target and Cheltenham Town striker Will Goodwin, according to journalist Jon Palmer.

The 21-year-old centre forward has netted six times in 16 league outings for Cheltenham Town this season and caught the eye in the process.

Goodwin is attracting attention from Cheltenham’s League One rivals, Charlton Athletic and Oxford United.

Charlton and Oxford failed with their initial bids to convince Cheltenham, who considered the offers to be derisory.

Both Charlton and Oxford have not given up their hopes of signing the striker in the ongoing window.

And it has been claimed that Oxford are now leading the race to land the signature of Goodwin.

However, it has also been suggested that no deal has been reached with Cheltenham for the Addicks target.

Now all eyes will be on Charlton to see whether they will make another offer to snatch Goodwin from Oxford’s grasp.
