Former EFL star Adrian Clarke believes that Sheffield Wednesday’s recent results depict a side that lack a backbone and are far too brittle as a team.
Wednesday were knocked out of the FA Cup earlier this week when they lost 4-1 to Coventry City away from home.
The two sides went into the second half on level terms at 1-1 but Coventry scored three goals within a span of eight minutes to finish off the Owls.
Clarke conceded that it is alarming at the way Wednesday collapsed against Coventry and pointed out that it was a similar tale against Huddersfield in the Championship last weekend.
He feels Rohl should be worried about the lack of a backbone in his Sheffield Wednesday team and stressed that the fans will not be too enamoured if the team perform similarly at home against Birmingham City on Friday night.
Clarke said on the What The EFL Podcast: “As for Sheffield Wednesday, second mauling in a matter of days.
“They let in three goals in eight minutes against Coventry; this after conceding four goals in 12 minutes against Huddersfield.
“That’s pretty unforgivable; that is alarming and if I am Danny Rohl, it is tough for him to deal with because it shows that his team lack backbone.
“They are brittle and they collapse like a pack of cards.
“Big game against Birmingham because if it’s another collapse, the fans won’t have it.”
Sheffield Wednesday are sitting second from bottom in the Championship standings and are still eight points off safety.
