Zinedine Zidane has emerged as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s dream candidate to succeed Erik ten Hag at Manchester United at the end of the season, it has been claimed in France.

 

Ratcliffe has take charge of the club’s sporting fate after acquiring more than a quarter of the club’s shares and is looking to reshape the structure at Old Trafford.

 

A new sporting director, head of recruitment and technical director are likely to be finalised soon and there are murmurs about Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.

 

 

 

The new Manchester United minority owner is not sold on the Dutchman and work is under way to identify a new manager.

 

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, former Real Madrid coach Zidane is the dream candidate for Ratcliffe and INEOS.

 

 

The Frenchman has been shunning offers since leaving Real Madrid where he won three consecutive Champions Leagues.

 

The new Manchester United hierarchy are keen to put Zidane in the Old Trafford dugout.

 

 

Jean-Claude Blanc, who is on the Manchester United football board, is a fan of the Frenchman and tried to recruit him when he was at Paris Saint-Germain.

 

Zidane wants to return to management but is expected to be very careful about choosing the right project.
