Sevilla are not in a position to afford to trigger the option to buy Leicester City loanee Boubakary Soumare and will let him return to the Foxes in the summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder joined Sevilla on loan from Leicester on transfer deadline day last summer and has been a key part of their squad.

Soumare has been a regular for Sevilla in the last few months and has impressed with his performances.

The Spanish club have an option to make the move permanent for a fee of €15m and in an ideal world Sevilla would have triggered the clause.

However, according to Spanish outlet Vamos Mi Sevilla, the club are in no position to afford the fee.

Sevilla will reluctantly let the midfielder return to Leicester despite his impressive performances this season.

Paying the €15m figure would adversely affect their transfer budget for the summer and Sevilla do not want that to happen.

Soumare still has a contract until 2026 with Leicester and it remains to be seen whether he decides to stay with the Foxes if they are in the Premier League next season.
