Charlton Athletic have put a better wage offer on the table to see off competition from Bristol Rovers for the signature of Dunfermline defender Josh Edwards, according to Bristol Live.

Addicks boss Nathan Jones is making moves in the market and wants to bring in 24-year-old Edwards to boost his defensive options.

Charlton have been facing competition from Bristol Rovers, with both League One sides seeing offers for the defender accepted by Dunfermline.

Jones has managed to see off the Gas though, with Charlton putting a better wage offer than Bristol Rovers on the table.

Edwards has decided that he wants to continue his career at the Valley.

The left-back came through the youth set-up at Scottish side Airdrieonians before moving to Dunfermline.

He helped the Pars to win promotion up to the Scottish Championship and was a key member of the side this season as they finished sixth.

Edwards will aim to hit the ground running at Charlton and adapt to England’s League One.
