Aris Limassol are keeping quiet about potentially completing the signing of a star from Scottish giants Rangers.

Rangers could be about to offload two of the players who have been stalwarts for them in recent seasons as Philippe Clement tries to raise funds.

James Tavernier is wanted by Turkish side Trabzonspor, the club which John Lundstram and Borna Barisic have joined this summer, while Connor Goldson is suggested to be close to joining Aris Limassol.

Goldson is claimed to have flown to Cyprus to undergo a medical ahead of joining, but an Aris Limassol spokesman is keeping the club’s cards close to their chest.

“We are close to a new signing”, he was quoted as saying by the Daily Record.

“Things are not so easy as it involves several moving parts.

“We are doing our best to conclude a deal.

“We will not divulge any names.”

Goldson has been a key man at Rangers in recent years and a switch to Cyprus for the centre-back would raise some eyebrows.

Aris Limassol could finish just fourth in the Cypriot top flight last season.
