Southampton have made a move to bring in KAA Gent winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo and are claimed to be ‘in love with his profile.

Saints gained promotion back to the Premier League last season and they have been busy in the transfer market to prepare for top flight life.

They recently signed forward Ben Brereton Diaz from Spanish side Villarreal but boss Russell Martin is looking to add more firepower to make sure they can make a splash back in the top flight.

They have identified Belgian side Gent’s 19-year-old winger Fernandez-Pardo and are now making moves to sign him.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the first contacts over a possible deal with Gent have been made.

It has been suggested that the Belgian side have no intention of letting Fernandez-Pardo go as they have already rejected a €10m bid from Italian giants Lazio.

However, Southampton are ‘in love with his profile’ and have been holding talks with the player’s camp.

Now they are looking to see what figure Gent would find acceptable to let Fernandez-Pardo move to St Mary’s this summer.

Fernandez-Pardo has already been in action this season, playing three times for Gent.
