Newcastle United would prefer to loan in Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford with an obligation to buy to comply with an eye on PSR rules, according to talkSPORT.
The English goalkeeper joined the Clarets from Manchester City last summer when they were a Premier League club.
He played in 28 league matches in the last campaign as the Clarets faced relegation and now he is attracting interest from the Premier League.
It has been suggested that the Magpies have reopened talks with Scott Parker’s side regarding Trafford.
The Magpies have done limited business this summer and it has been suggested that they would like to take Trafford on a loan initially with an obligation to buy to comply, to help with PSR rules.
Trafford has started two Championship matches this season and it remains to be seen if Burnley are willing to sanction Trafford’s departure after Arijanet Muric left this summer.
The English shot-stopper is Parker’s first choice but he has been linked with a move away from Turf Moor this summer.
Now it remains to be seen if Eddie Howe’s side will be able to strike a deal for Trafford on favourable terms.
