Arsenal have discussed signing Raheem Sterling on a straight loan deal from Chelsea to avoid complications with just hours left in the transfer window, according to the Independent.

With Manchester United seemingly unwilling to sign Sterling, the Chelsea winger is in with a real chance of joining Arsenal.

The Gunners have been offered the England winger and the north London club are assessing signing him ahead of the window closing tonight.

Arsenal and Chelsea have discussed the possibility of Sterling moving to the Emirates in the coming hours.

However, the Gunners are interested in doing a straight loan deal over another option at this stage.

Arsenal believe any deal other than a straightforward loan would be too hard to pull off with ten hours left in the window.

The Emirates has emerged as a viable destination for Sterling who has been made aware that he has no future at Chelsea.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can reach an agreement for the move in the remaining hours of the window.
