Former Leicester City winger Matt Piper believes that Steve Cooper’s job will not be in danger even if he goes on to lose both his next two games.
Cooper got the Foxes job in the summer as Enzo Maresca was appointed by Chelsea after he steered Leicester City back to the Premier League.
Even though Cooper has not been able to register a win in his first five league matches in charge, he has lost only two of them.
Leicester are sitting above the likes of Crystal Palace, Everton and Wolves in 15th in the league table and Piper reiterated that even if the Foxes lose their upcoming two matches this week, Cooper will be safe.
“It is still early in the season, I do not think he [Cooper] will be under pressure if we lose at Arsenal, even if we go out of the cup against Walsall”, Piper said on When You’re Smiling.
“I do not think it is to that point yet.
“I think we have got to give him a little more time.”
However, Piper made it clear that the players need to understand Cooper’s system or otherwise his position will be heavily scrutinised.
“But they [players] need to start understanding what he wants, quickly.
“Because if not, people are going to start asking the questions if he is the right man for the job.”
Cooper’s men have a tough week ahead as they have an away fixture against Walsall on Tuesday night and a trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal at the weekend.
