Attacker Mathys Tel is now ‘on the verge’ of joining Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal from German giants Bayern Munich.
Tel was loaned to Spurs by Bayern Munich in the winter transfer window earlier this year and the deal contained an option for the north London side to keep him permanently for a fee of €50m.
Bayern Munich have been desperate to sell Tel and to do a deal quickly, but Spurs have not wanted to pay the €50m and even floated another loan, which the Germans did not like.
Now, according to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, Tottenham are ‘on the verge’ of signing Tel on a permanent basis.
Spurs will be paying a fee of €35m to sign Tel permanently, which added to the €10m loan fee, means he will have cost the club €45m.

New Spurs boss Thomas Frank wants to have Tel at his disposal for next season and the Frenchman is expected to pen a long-term deal in north London.
The switch is suggested to be at the ‘final stage’ and it is expected to happen.

Tel could then become the first signing of the Frank era at Tottenham and Spurs will hope to see him kick on next term.
He had only a limited impact in the recent season, scoring twice in the Premier League, but Frank saw enough to suggest he can blossom in north London.

For Bayern Munich, the sale is a welcome one as they were keen to offload Tel and to do it early in the summer.
The German giants decided some time ago that Tel did not figure in their plans for next season and they will now bring in cash from his departure.
Tel, still just 20 years old, will leave the Allianz Arena having made 83 appearances for Bayern Munich with a return of 16 goals.
Spurs star James Maddison urged the club to keep Tel just last month.
