‘One Of The Observers’ – Yet More Interest In Tottenham Hotspur Attacker

Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt have emerged as ‘one of the observers’ keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur attacker Mathys Tel.

Despite manager Roberto De Zerbi suggesting only a few weeks ago that the 21-year-old could grow into an important figure for Spurs, questions are beginning to emerge over the Frenchman’s future ahead of the summer window.

Following an injury-hit campaign for the club, Tel emerged as one of the few bright spots in a difficult season, making 31 Premier League appearances and playing a key role in the fight for survival, contributing a goal and an assist across the final four matches.

During the winter window under former manager Thomas Frank, the French forward was ‘not satisfied’ with his playing time and was said to be considering an exit from N17, although Tottenham were reluctant to sanction a move.

Paris FC identified Tel as a ‘dream target’ in January, although a move failed to materialise.

Borussia Dortmund also showed interest, but their approach was knocked back by the player’s agent due to his strong ties to Bayern Munich.

Now, an exit could once again be on the cards, with Tel not expected to command a regular starting role under De Zerbi despite his versatility across the front line, and believed to be seeking more consistent minutes.

In recent days, Premier League outfit Bournemouth have been linked with the 21-year-old after securing European football with a sixth-place finish.

They join Roma, who have added the French star to their shortlist of attacking targets ahead of the new campaign.

According to German outlet Sport.de, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring developments surrounding Tel and are said to be among the clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

They join a growing list of admirers that also includes FC Porto, Lille and Galatasaray, with the Turkish club keen to learn what it would take to prise the forward away from north London.

Spurs are unable to offer the 21-year-old European football next season following their 17th-place finish, but remain in a strong negotiating position with Tel tied down to a contract running until 2031.

That long-term contract ensures Tottenham remain firmly in control of the situation, meaning any negotiations are unlikely to come cheaply.

However, if Tel pushes for a move in search of a bigger role, the London giants could face a decision over his future just one year after making his stay permanent.
