Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi has distinct roles in mind for Manchester City winger Savinho and Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo, although the pursuit of the Dutchman is considered difficult.
Having addressed several areas of the squad during a busy summer window, Spurs have recently turned their attention towards injecting further quality into their attacking ranks.
Tottenham have been keen on Gakpo since June and are in direct talks with the Dutchman’s camp as they seek to gain momentum in their efforts to land him.

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites’ long-standing admiration for Savinho stretches back to last summer, when they chased the Brazilian before he ultimately remained at the Etihad.
That interest has been revived this summer, with the Brazilian himself eager to make the switch to N17 to play for De Zerbi.
Tottenham have been making progress towards taking Savinho to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will hope to get the deal over the line.
Crucially though, the arrival of Savinho would not rule out Gakpo moving too.
Spurs are viewing both Gakpo and Savinho as separate targets rather than alternatives, with the pair regarded as complementary pieces in the club’s long-term project.

According to Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof, De Zerbi has different roles in mind for the two attackers as Tottenham continue to work on both pursuits.
However, the pursuit of Gakpo remains difficult, with talks with Liverpool still ongoing despite the Dutchman being considered a ‘very important target’ for Spurs.
The Reds are pursuing a big-money deal for Bradley Barcola alongside fellow Paris Saint-Germain star Ibrahim Mbaye, with progress on those pursuits potentially opening the door for Tottenham to prise Gakpo away from Anfield.
Whether Gakpo and Savinho could ultimately form part of De Zerbi’s strategy for the Lilywhites should become clearer in the coming days.
Spurs are also weighing up further firepower through former Arsenal star Florian Balogun, with the American potentially commanding a fee in the region of €60m.
Tottenham could also see movement in the opposite direction, with Galatasaray thinking about launching a serious approach for Mathys Tel before the window closes.
Tel has been concerned about game time at Tottenham and those worries would grow if Savinho and Gakpo arrive.
