Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has played down comments made to RTL by his star Yoann Gourcuff.

The former AC Milan midfielder had stated that he has such respect for current coach Laurent Blanc that he would love to continue working with him even if he left the Ligue 1 club. Many took the comments to mean that should Blanc leave then Gourcuff would soon follow, but Triaud does not see it like that.

"It’s nice what Yoann says, it shows confidence in his coach. However, if his coach leaves for France, then he cannot permanently be with him" joked Triaud to L’Equipe.

Bordeaux are keen to hold on to their talented playmaker despite what may or may not happen with Laurent Blanc in the future.
