When Le Mans met Lille last night in Ligue 1, Stade Leon Bollee played host to a who’s who of scouts from top European clubs. Watching the away side emerge with a 2-1 win were representatives from domestic rivals Paris Saint-Germain, Bordeaux and Saint Etienne. These were joined by scouts from foreign sides Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Newcastle, Hamburg, Manisaspor and Genoa.
Talk was rife over who so many scouts had come to watch, but it seems clear that Eden Hazard of Lille and Anthony Le Tallec of Le Mans are firmly in the sights of many clubs, with both French sides expecting summer approaches for their respective stars.
While the result helped Lille continue their title charge, with just four games remaining in the current Ligue 1 season, Le Mans, six points from safety, appear all but down.
