Barcelona’s new president Sandro Rosell will have two big issues waiting for him as he settles into his new job today. First to come across the president’s desk are the matters of Cesc Fabregas and Yaya Toure.
Rosell is expected to meet coach Josep Guardiola and his coaching staff later today, where the importance of signing Fabregas will be raised. While the coach wants to ensure the Arsenal man plays his football at the Camp Nou next season, Rosell is expected to tell Guardiola that the transfer of Fabregas remains a very complicated one where no guarantees can be given.
In the case of Yaya Toure, a deal with Manchester City for the Ivory Coast midfielder, was done at a fee of €32M. However, as Catalan daily Sport reports, that agreement was made between the old administration of Barcelona and expired on 28th June. Negotiations therefore would have to take place from scratch and Toure’s agent yesterday stated his client’s wish to meet with Rosell before agreeing to any transfer away from the Camp Nou.
For Sandro Rosell, his first day as Barcelona president promises to be an interesting one.
