Reports from Brazil suggest English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur have seen a bid knocked back for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.

The 21-year-old has been attracting serious attention from Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and the English team offered €12M for Internacional’s highly-rated hitman. It seems the London club were looking to quickly do more business with Internacional after successfully signing Sandro from the Brazilian side last year.

This though has been refused as it is thought to undervalue the player.

"It’s the first real offer we’ve received", revealed Internacional’s president Giovanni Luigi to Correio do Povo, "but I said that I do not intend to sell the player now. I think they know, but I have already warned that [we won’t sell] before the year is out."

Luigi also feels that Spurs will have to increase their bid too if they do want to snare Leandro Damiao at some point in the future.

"And they still need to bid much more."

The Brazilian club are thought to be looking for at least €20M when they do finally decide to cash in on the player.

Leandro Damiao has recently broken through into the senior Brazil side, making his debut in the friendly against Scotland back in March. Prolific in club football, it has come as little surprise that the striker is being tracked by some of the biggest sides in Europe.
