Didier Drogba has revealed that he hopes to sign a new contract with Chelsea.
The Ivorian striker declared himself as happy as ever at Stamford Bridge, putting paid to speculation that he could leave the club this summer.
Indeed, with the arrival of Fernando Torres at the start of 2011 and new coach Andre Villas-Boas’ move for Anderlecht striker Romelu Lukaku, it had seemed that Drogba’s days in blue could be numbered.
But this is not so and Chelsea and the striker are talking over a contract extension.
"I’m still here", said Drogba.
"We started talking and it is progressing well.
"Everyone knows I love this club and everyone knows what I want to do.
"I will be here again this season. I said a few years ago I’d go until the end of my contract, I’m still here and I need to continue to play well and give my best as I always have."
