Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has officially confirmed news which leaked out late on Thursday night, that Paris Saint-Germain have indeed beaten Chelsea in the race for Javier Pastore.

The Ligue 1 giants were desperate to snap up Pastore and were doing everything possible to pip Andre Villas-Boas’ Chelsea to the Argentine attacking midfielder.

Now Zamparini has confirmed they have succeeded.

"Last night, around midnight, the negotiations ended", the Palermo president told Radio Radio.

"The sale of Pastore to PSG is virtually complete on the basis of an agreement for €43M."

Palmero are disappointed to lose Pastore, a player Zamparini considers as world class and able to repeat the success his countryman Lionel Messi has enjoyed in recent years.

But instead of at Barcelona, Pastore must take those strides in the French capital with an ambitious PSG side bankrolled by the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar.
