The future of out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra is still up in the air.

Jose Mourinho left the French enforcer out of Los Blancos’ pre-season North American tour and it was widely assumed to be just a matter of time before the 26-year-old moved on.

Real Madrid also set the player’s asking price – €20M – and it was thought a cavalcade of club would line up for Diarra, chief amongst them English Premier League outfits Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

But Diarra is still at the Bernabeu and his future looks no closer to being resolved.

Turkish giants Galatasaray are currently expressing the most interest in the Frenchman, but are having trouble meeting Real Madrid’s asking price.

The Istanbul-based side want to pay €8M for Diarra, well below the amount Los Blancos would accept.

The player still looks unlikely to remain in Madrid next season and the smart money is on a cut-price deal as the end of the summer transfer window approaches.
